Personalized Senior Living in Board and Care Communities
Board and care communities offer many of the same services as larger assisted living facilities, but in a more intimate, home-like setting—typically within residential neighborhoods. These homes are licensed and staffed to support a small number of residents, often accommodating up to six seniors. Because of the smaller size, residents usually receive more personalized care and attention. While board and care homes provide medication management and are staffed by trained caregivers, they do not offer the 24/7 medical supervision found in skilled nursing facilities.

Finding individual board and care communities in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area can be challenging. Some hybrid-style board and care homes offer the personalized care of a small setting while accommodating up to sixty residents. All board and care homes are required to be licensed by the State of California as Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFEs). As your trusted board and care advisors, we're here to help you find the community that best fits your needs.

24/7 Support and Supervision
Trained staff are available around the clock to assist with daily living needs and ensure safety.
Help with Daily Activities
Residents receive assistance with medication, bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and meals.
Lower Staff-to-Resident Ratio
Smaller communities allow caregivers to really get to know each resident’s routines and preferences.
Consistent and Familiar Staff
Staff turnover is often lower, leading to more stable and trusting caregiver-resident relationships.
Quieter, Calmer Environment
Ideal for seniors who may feel overwhelmed in larger, busier assisted living facilities.
Easier Transitions
The smaller setting can feel less intimidating for those moving from their own home.
Better for Certain Medical or Memory Needs
Board and care homes often cater well to individuals with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or physical limitations.
Often More Affordable
Depending on location and services, board and care homes can cost less than larger assisted living communities.
Family-Like Atmosphere
Residents often share meals and daily life together, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
Flexible and Personalized Care Plans
